Principals Report
School Association AGM is tonight at 5:30pm in the school staff room, followed by a general meeting. All are welcome to attend.

Harmony Week Breakfast
Last Wednesday, we held our annual Harmony Week Breakfast. It is a lovely morning where we come together to celebrate our different cultures through cuisine and costume. We are a school with students from over 30 different countries and it is important to consider that while we are all different, we are also all human and have the same needs for friendship, connectedness and learning through building our understanding of each other. While this is one morning in the year, we hope that our school continues to support diversity, inclusion and build a sense of belonging in all our students, staff and families.
Thank you for your engagement and the delicious food to share.

School Association purchase for school –
The School Association has purchased 5 document cameras for the school. Now each classroom has a document camera which they use to show what they are reading to support students to read along and improve their word recognition and reading, to analyse texts, explicitly show the steps of a learning activity and analyse student work for feedback. We appreciate the School Association using some of the funds raised by our parent body to provide these cameras which are becoming an integral part of our teaching.

Lisa Ford Parent Session – Wednesday 2nd April – 6-7:30pm
The School Association is funding a parent workshop on navigating friendships with our children. Lisa is a psychologist who works with families and students with a wellbeing focus. Last year she ran a session about resilience with our year 4-6 students and an parent session sharing the importance of allowing our students space to problem solve.
The School Association and I felt that sessions like this are valuable for our families. If this is a success, we may be able to offer other sessions.
The School Association is providing some refreshments as well.
Please rsvp by using the QR code on the flyer.
Athletics Carnival

Our P-6 Athletics Carnival was held on Monday at the Domain. It was a beautiful day, and the participation rate of the students was to be commended. It is wonderful to see students achieving and striving in a different environment than the everyday classroom.
Thank you to Mr Corney for your planning and running of the carnival, the staff supporting the students, Year 10 student helpers from Taroona High School, the parent/carer volunteers and the students for their participation. This year we had the biggest group of parents/carers/family in the adult race – well done 😊
Also well done to Sharron Baird for her first time announcing the carnival.

NAPLAN –
Students in Y3 and Y5 have all finished their NAPLAN tests for 2025. We will receive the student reports and the data in Term 3. The reports will be sent home, and staff will spend time analysing the data to find out individual, cohort and schoolwide strengths and where support needs to be given.
Thank you for the support you gave to your children during this time.

Soccer –
Over the next few weeks, the students will be receiving soccer tuition thanks to the Sporting Schools Grants. This is the perfect time for this, as interested students will signing up to Taroona Football Club for the soccer session in terms 2 & 3.

Bringing Personal Items to School –
We discourage students from bringing personal and precious items to school as they can be lost or broken in the general hubbub of classroom and playtime life.
We also do not allow students to trade or give items eg pokemon cards and Cubees, to others as this can lead to extortion tactics and traders’ remorse.
Please reinforce this with your children at home.

Favourite Colour Clothes day
Hi, we are community connections (Lucy, Marley, Lizzy, Patrick, Kira and Willow)
And we will be organising a fundraiser for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. NICU helps newborn babies who need extra medical attention, the equipment to help them is expensive so with a gold coin donation we can get them the help they need so they can be healthy and happy.
All children and teachers throughout the school will be wearing their favourite colour(s) on Wednesday 2nd of April we look forward to seeing everyone in their favourite colour(s)!

Grade 1/2P
1/2 Echidnas
We have had a busy and exciting start to the year in 1/2. We have danced with Footsteps, built our teamwork and problem-solving skills at the Molesworth Environment Centre, celebrated our cultures during Harmony Week with our much loved Harmony Day breakfast and raced our hearts out at the school athletics carnival and that is just the out of the classroom stuff. In the classroom we are working hard on our english, maths, science, history and social skills. Here are some of our favourite parts of this term so far.

Grade 3/4SW
It has been an incredibly busy term so far for 3/4 SW. Everyone has been committed to doing their best and are proud of their efforts. We would like to share some of our Harmony Day acrostic poems and recounts about the excursion from Silver Falls to the Waterworks:
