Principals Report

Pyjama Day
The comfiest and cosiest day of the year is Pyjama Day. It is a fundraiser day most students and staff enjoy. Our Community Connections group chose to fundraise for the Fred Hollows Foundation, bringing sight to people all over the world. The students choose a local, a national and international charity to support through an activity like PJ Day or free dress days. This supports our students to understand how they can make a difference in the world.

Moderation Day –
On Friday, staff will be joining with staff from South Hobart Primary School and Howrah Primary at South Hobart to spend the morning sharing student reading data and discussing what this means for how we would rate student in preparation for student reports later in the term. This time to moderate student learning and discuss our teaching is invaluable and involves rich discussions. Later that day our staff will return to school to participate in more professional learning around reading, which is our department’s priority, and also have some time for planning.
Inter-School Cross Country –
Yesterday we had over 40 students from Y3-6 participate in the Interschool Cross Country. More about this next newsletter
Farewell and thank you Mr Corney –
Mr Corney has been engaging our students in their PE lessons and organising and running carnivals since March last year, while Renee Britton was on maternity leave. Ms Britton returns next week so we would like to thank Mr Corney for his enthusiasm and the great learning he has involved our students in. We wish you all the best to the next school you work in.
Hobart City Council Travel survey
Thank you to all who have participated in the survey. There have been over 50 people who have done so far. The aim is for 150.
Albuera Street Primary School is working with the City of Hobart to develop a School Access Travel Plan that will help improve how students travel to and from school. Families are invited to complete a short survey to help inform the plan. Please complete one survey per student and submit multiple responses if your child travels from more than one household. The survey is open until The survey will be open from 26.05 to 16.06 at www.yoursay.hobartcity.com.au/albuera-school-access-travel-plan .

It is a Department of Education requirement that all medications to be taken by students during the school day are to be passed into the office or teacher in charge of an excursion or camp. The medications require a signed doctor/pharmacist as well as parent permission form (these forms are available in the Forms and Documents panel in the newsletter or at the office). The medication is also to be in the original packaging so that staff know what they are administering. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Medical Action Plans
Every child at Albuera Street Primary with a medical condition needs to supply an updated medical plan to the school each year, especially those with Anaphylaxis and Asthma. Staff from Albuera have been trained in Anaphylaxis using EpiPens and also in Ventolin administration for Asthma. If you are new to the school and your child has a medical condition please come into the office and collect an appropriate action plan form, or if you just have questions please don’t hesitate to phone the school.

We want you to tell us how easy or hard it is to use the network and why, and what you need to be able to use it more often (or at all).
Click here to tell us what you like and don’t like, and what you would like to see in the future.
It doesn’t matter if you currently use the bus or not, we would like to hear from you!
