Out of Hours Care: A quality after school care program operates on our school site daily from 3 pm – 6 pm. After Kinder care operates on Wednesdays from 1 pm to 3 pm. The program is run by Lady Gowrie and all enquiries and booking should be made directly with them. (Ph. 6230 6800) Lady Gowrie also runs a school holiday program, based at our school, during all school holidays.

Allergy awareness:
At our school we have some students who are known to be at risk of severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to certain foods, such as nuts. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of these students at school we encourage all members of our school community to be allergy aware. As part of this allergy awareness we do not allow students to share of food and drinks at school. If at any time parents would like to bring food for sharing, e.g. a birthday cake, we ask that advice be sought from the class teacher so consideration of students special dietary needs can be made. More information is provided in our school information booklet. Our school is accredited as being ‘Asthma Active’ and ‘Anaphylaxis Active’ with the Asthma Foundation of Tasmania until Nov 2017.   For more information please ask for a copy of our Anaphylaxis and Allergy Policy.

Assemblies: Whole school assemblies are usually held fortnightly on a Friday afternoon commencing at 2  pm. Parents and friends are welcome to attend and share in students’ celebration of their achievements. The weekly Newsletter provides advice as to which classes will be sharing at each assembly.

Canteen 2011 006 (Small).bmpCanteen: Our Gold Accredited canteen is operated by members of our school community who provide delicious, healthy food every Friday. Order forms are sent home on Wednesday with the School Newsletter and are returned on Thursday so all the food can be made fresh to order on the premises on Friday morning.

We also have a sausage sizzle at lunch time every Tuesday. A sausage in bread ($1.50), and fruit juice ($1.00) can be purchased by filling in the order form in the class room on Tuesday morning.

School banking: Students have the opportunity to bank with the Commonwealth Bank every Thursday. Please see the office for more information.

School newsletter: Our school newsletter, The Voice of Albuera is published every week. It contains items from staff, students and parents as well as advice about current and future school events. It is sent home on Wednesday by email or with the oldest child of each family.

School uniform:
We encourage all students to wear our school uniform as it fosters a sense of belonging and pride in our school. New and second hand school uniforms can be bought from the school office. Price lists and uniform alternatives are available. Broad brimmed hats are required first and fourth term.

Student council: Each term every class from Prep to grade 6 elects 2 representatives to be on our student council. The student council meets weekly with the principal to provide a ‘student voice’ to the Principal, teachers and School Association. Their discussions cover class and school issues, some fundraising and community work.

Parent participation at school: Parent involvement in our school is highly valued and appreciated. There are many opportunities for participation including the School Association, school canteen, parent help in classrooms, the library and on excursions, coaching sports teams, helping with our ‘walking school bus’ to soccer training and many more. We would welcome your suggestions as to how you might be able to participate in, and contribute to, the life of our school.
We ask that parents fill in the Visitors Book at the front office and wear a Visitors name tag while in the school. To comply with Departmental regulations for all adults working with children, we also ask that parents who will be working in our school undertake a Good Character Check. This is a simple procedure and further information is available at the office.
