Enrolment
Enrolment Procedures
Quality education is underpinned by positive, respectful relationships between all those involved in the learning process. Therefore, we believe getting to know each student as an individual and key members of their family, right from the time of enrolment, is beneficial to the progress of each student at our school.

This pack contains an enrolment form that must be completed before we can accept an enrolment in addition to other information about our school. However, we ask all prospective students and family members to come and visit the school and meet us before an enrolment is confirmed. This is the beginning of a very important educational journey that may well span eight years.
Albuera Street Primary is the local school for families living in Battery Point, the southern end of the CBD and part of Upper Sandy Bay. At the moment we are only accepting enrolments for students from Prep to grade 6 student who live in our catchment area. We may accept enrolments for students in Kindergarten from out of area due to numbers.

For Kindergarten
In Tasmania, children can begin Kindergarten in the year they turn 5 years of age. (i.e. they need to turn 4 before 1st January in the year they start kinder)  Although this as a non-compulsory year of education, it is wise to enrol your child by the end of first term in the preceding year, as much planning occurs in well in advance for the following year.  You will receive a letter confirming your child’s place in our Kindergarten once the enrolment form is lodged and a school visit undertaken.
Kindergarten Orientation sessions are held weekly for 6 weeks from October to December in the year before beginning kinder. The child who will be attending Kinder next year attends with a parent or carer.
Our two Kindergarten programs operates on (Group 1) Monday, Tuesday 8.55am to 3.pm, and Wednesday 8.55am to 1.pm  and (Group 2)Wednesday 8.55am to 1.pm and  Thursday, Friday from 8.55am till 3pm.

Out of Hours Care
We are proud of the fact that Lady Gowrie has been running an out of school hours care program on our site for over a decade. This program offers care to all students from 5 years of age and over from 3.00 pm to 6.00pm on weekdays, plus after kinder care on Wednesdays from 1. pm to 3. pm. Special arrangements can be made on an individual basis to include Kinder students who have not yet turned 5 into this service.
These arrangements, and indeed all enrolments for after school care, are made directly with Lady Gowrie. (ph 6230 6800)
Lady Gowrie also run a vacation care program on our site.
